September 17, 2010, Newsletter Issue #310: breaking up same colors in design

Tip of the Week

For many gardeners, planting the biggest, brightest blooms they can find is the main point of gardening, but this isnīt a good idea. You should try to break up the color somewhat by choosing colors in the same family such as pink and red. Look at a color wheel to get some ideas. Or you can limit your palette to three to four colors with one of those colors being a neutral such as white or gray. Don't forget to consider the background your plants will be appearing against.
